Going through experiences of loss is hard for all of us but it can be even harder for children. If our students have had a limited exposure to loss or haven't had support in these times, they may find it challenging to understand and cope with the emotions that come with it. We can explore the themes of 'Hope and Loss' in the safe environment of the classroom so that they are better prepared to be resilient in the tough times.

You can tie this 'See Think Feel Wonder' activity into other classroom learning such as novel studies and social and emotional wellbeing. The aim is to encourage students to dig deeper than just surface-level observations and learn to show empathy for others in the world around them.

My favourite way to a 'See Think Feel Wonder' activity in class is as a Bus Stop or Carousel activity. For this, you'll want to print off the photos (A4 or A3-sized) and spread them out around the classroom. Split students into small groups and get them to move between each of the stations, discussing and recording their thoughts.

Post-it-notes are a great way for students to record their ideas anonymously and can later be collated to guide a whole class discussion. If you'd like students to record their responses for their workbooks, I've included a template for you to use at the end of this resource. I've also included some headings which you can print off to create a wall display alongside the picture prompts and student responses.
