Hey! I’m Kath, a primary-trained teacher from NZ. If you’re wondering whose website you’ve landed upon and what attheminute is all about, you’re in the right place!

Kath from attheminute.com

I started out my teaching career in early primary where I taught three wonderful cohorts of Year 2s before switching things up and jumping to the other end of the spectrum to teach Year 7-8 (hellllllo TikTok). After that, I lived abroad for a couple of years in which I ended up teaching all year levels from Nursery through to Year 13 through supply work and had two longer term jobs in Year 1 and secondary school PE.

Since moving home to NZ, I’ve been doing a combination of relieving and fixed term work across primary, intermediate and secondary schools so that I can continue to grow this little-big project - attheminute!

Working from home in lockdown

attheminute started as a lockdown project with me blogging about living in London and creating free teaching resources and my partner working on a series of tech projects, including this website! Now I’m looking to take it further and use this platform to help as many teachers as possible excel in their jobs and feel good doing just that.

If you were to ask me what my hobbies were, I’d have to admit most of them would revolve around attheminute (creating resources, designing graphics, writing blogs, reading business books, listening to podcasts and so on) but apart from those, I LOVE musical theatre, choreographing dances, group fitness classes, cycling, camping and *drum roll* rearranging anything I see into rainbow-coloured order (how uncharacteristic of a primary teacher).

Term 3 round upI may be a self-proclaimed introvert who has an aversion to anything labelled “social event” and has to hype themselves up to gain the courage to walk into a staff room setting, BUT I also know that the more you put yourself out there, the easier it gets. I love learning from other teachers and am continually amazed by the skill and dedication I see on a daily basis. And that feeling outweighs the fear. So. Hi. Hey. Kia ora. I’m glad to have you here.

If you’d like to join me on this venture beyond the walls of the classroom, you can join my email list for weekly teaching emails during term time or hop on my socials - Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest. You can email me anytime at kath@attheminute.com to say hi, share experiences, suggestions or ideas for a teaching collaboration project (hell yes!).

Until then,

Be purposeful teachers
Who are in control
Feel inspired
And know they’ve done enough.
